Hasfa Mago, a social innovator and literacy specialist who is well-versed with early childhood literacy development and community
empowerment tthrough the implementation of programs based on sustainable development goal 4.7.
Within a 6 year period Mago founded Smart Toto that has rebranded to Read to Learn Foundation, which is creating impact in peri urban and
rural communities of Uganda with a plan of scaling to the rest of Africa through championing Early Childhood Literacy DevelopmentĀ ; through
the publishing of authentic relatable books and establishing community libraries. Certified in Neuro Linguistic Programming and passionate
about ongoing research and knowledge seeking in the fields of: Montessori teaching principles, evidence based literacy interventions,
teaching at the right level and the science of reading.
Consequently, Mago is opening new doors of understanding and revolutionizing teaching methods.
Having authored 30+ African relatable books covering topics towards 2030 sustainable Development
goals adopted by the United Nations, some of these are already teaching 35,000 children how to read,
write and spell.
Mago and her team seek to promote gender equality in the field and continue to strive to build a more
representative workforce while transforming early childhood education.
